Worship With Us Here at 7:00PM on December 20th

What is a Longest Night Service?

The longest night of the year is December 21, and it has become a meaningful time to recognize that the Christmas season is often not all brightness and fun. In particular this year, we have much to grieve and many losses to acknowledge. Muhlenberg Lutheran Church is hosting this year’s ecumenical Longest Night worship service Sunday, December 20, 7:00 pm, on Facebook and YouTube. This service of word and song will provide an opportunity to be honest about our pain and be reminded of Christ’s light that shines into dark places.

Worship Resources

With our worship service being held on December 20th, we wanted to provide opportunities for you to practice mindful reflection and prayer on December 21st, the actual longest night of the year.  Prayer Stations will be available on December 21st at three area congregations.

A "Wailing Wall" at Park View Mennonite Church

Use the memorial wall at Park View as a place to lay your grief.  There will be paper to write prayers and candles to light.

Walking the Labyrinth is a prayerful journey where you are invited to listen to God speaking.  A Guide for walking the labyrinth may be downloaded HERE

Prayer Around the Cross at Muhlenberg Lutheran Church

On the East Market St. side of the building, you'll find a large cross with stone benches around it.  You are invited to spend time in prayer here lifting up to God your hopes and dreams for the coming year.  When you are done, take one of the black painted rocks from the base of the cross with a word you can carry into the new year.
