Maundy Thursday
The Triduum (The Three Days) is the ancient observance of the mystery of our salvation, which plunges the faithful into the death of Jesus and brings them with him to resurrection life. The Three Days is one liturgy, extending from Thursday evening through the Easter Vigil. You are invited to conform your life to the worship rhythms of the church on these three days:
Maundy Thursday - Thurs., Apr. 2, 7:00pm: We experience Jesus through his command to love one another.
Good Friday - Fri., Apr. 3:
12:00noon - The 39th annual Harrisonburg downtown ecumenical Good Friday prayer walk begins at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
7:00pm Worship Service, Muhlenberg - We hear the passion of Christ the King, the narrative of Jesus crucified and reigning from the cross.
Easter Vigil - Sat., Apr. 4, 8:00pm: This is the high point of the church’s year, the night, the very night, the Passover of Christ from death to life. We’ll begin with the lighting of the new fire, process into the Sanctuary as the Scripture comes to life through drama, then gather around the communion table to celebrate the first resurrection meal. Following the service, we’ll extend the celebration of Easter with food and fellowship.
Ecumenical Walk - Good Friday
The 39th annual Harrisonburg downtown ecumenical Good Friday prayer walk, based on the Stations of the Cross, begins at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and ends at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, stopping at a total of 10 downtown churches and public buildings. Led by someone carrying a large cross, the group stops at each station where a member of the Biblical Storytellers Guild will tell a passage from the Gospel of Matthew and a local pastor responds with a prayer. This is a contemplative, communal, and spiritual practice of shared ecumenical worship and witness that has been going on every year in downtown Harrisonburg for four decades. Please join us! The walking route is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. (Pastor Lauren and a number of Muhlenberg members will be praying/ telling.)

Confirmation Family Class & Dinner
Youth and their families will come together for monthly classes and fellowship to learn more about specific topics on the confirmation journey, and discuss how we live out our lives as disciples across generations. This class will happen on the 1st Sunday of each month from 6:00–8:00pm (unless otherwise noted) with dinner provided. Confirmation students and their parents/guardians are expected to attend this class. The class is also open to anyone in the congregation who would like to learn about the foundations of the Lutheran faith alongside our confirmands and continue the lifelong journey of Affirming our Baptisms! If you are interested in being a part of the confirmation class and/or helping to provide monthly meals, contact Pastor Alex.
