You are invited into a worship series (started on April 26, 2026) that will allow our community to reflect on the ways the early church shared a common life in Philippi, and discern how we approach generosity within Christian community today.

The word koinōnia is a Greek term often translated as “fellowship, communion, or sharing,” but it can be a bit tricky to translate simply into English. Because, while those terms scratch the surface of this idea, on a deeper level koinōnia expresses active participation in a common life. At its heart are the ideas of sharing, partnership, communion and mutual contribution. The term gathers spiritual, relational and material dimensions into a single reality: the life believers hold in common with God through Christ and with one another in the Spirit.

In worship, we’ll explore how the Philippians embraced this call to form koinōnia with Christ at the center. Then we’ll ask the important questions of our Muhlenberg community, like how do we share our common life today? How do you and your family view your spiritual, relational, and material resources in the light of Christ? How is our relationship to money a part of our baptismal calling?

You and your family will have the opportunity to embrace those questions faithfully through this four-week series of sermons, liturgy, mission moments and stewardship resources. Through this season of discernment, you’ll be invited to share a commitment card in worship on May 17, to reflect how your family will approach supporting our mission at Muhlenberg through the coming year.

Below, please see videos of “Mission Moment” talks that have been shared so far in worship. Each week, we’ll post a Mission Moment video, lifting up different members and partners of Muhlenberg who share their personal experiences!
