Youth Programs
Below you’ll find the regularly scheduled classes and gatherings for youth that are offered during the program year, from late August through May, each Sunday Morning. All students in these age ranges are encouraged to join in with their peers to learn and grow together in faith. Youth Classes on Sunday
Middle School/Confirmation
6th - 8th graders, get ready for a year of faith and fun!
Sunday mornings we’ll gather at 9:45 am in the Augsburg Room for Lutheran Yes!, a hands-on class that invites students into God’s ongoing YES through curiosity, creativity and connection. We are excited to see you there!
Confirmation Family Class
1st Sundays, 6:00–8:00pm
The first Sunday of each month, we’ll gather for our Confirmation Family Class from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the Nielsen Room. Through games, activities, and conversation we’ll dive into the Bible and discover God’s Word together. Pastor Lauren leads this group for all ages. Youth and their families will come together for monthly classes and fellowship to learn more about specific topics on the confirmation journey, and discuss how we live out our lives as disciples across generations. This class will happen on the 1st Sunday of each month from 6:00–8:00pm with dinner provided. Confirmation students and their parents/guardians are expected to attend this class. The class is also open to anyone in the congregation who would like to learn about the foundations of the Lutheran faith alongside our confirmands and continue the lifelong journey of Affirming our Baptisms! Senior High
9 - 12th graders, we have a life-changing adventure planned!
Next summer is the ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN. We’ll join THOUSANDS of other Lutheran youth from around the country for high-energy worship, inspiring speakers, experiential learning, and transformative connections. It’s not just an event but a movement in which faith ignites and community comes alive! The Gathering is an opportunity to ask big questions, grow in faith and be part of something bigger than yourself. Mark your calendar now for June 26 - July 3, 2027! A family information meeting will be held Sunday, August 30 at 9:45 am in the Campus Room.
But we’re not waiting until next summer to start the fun! Sunday mornings at 9:45 we’ll gather in the Campus Room to look at the world together through the lens of faith. Grounded in Scripture, we’ll explore what God has to say about news events and our everyday lives.
Virginia Synod Youth Events
Lost and Found - November 20-22, 2026
Muhlenberg Lutheran Church youth participate with other 7-8th graders from other churches in the Virginia Synod at Eagle Eyrie Camp and Retreat Center for this fun and enriching weekend. We gather at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg from Friday evening to Sunday noon for large group and small group experiences as well as free time and bonding time with your congregational group. This year’s event will be Nov. 20-22, 2026 and event registration information will be available before the end of August.
Winter Celebration - January 29-31, 2027
Winter Celebration is our weekend faith-sharing and fellowship event for 9th through 12th graders and their adult advisors, an opportunity to spend intentional time in community with God and each other. Winter Celebration will be Friday evening to Sunday noon at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg.
7th Day - March 6-7, 2027
Seventh Day is our overnight faith sharing retreat for 5th and 6th graders and the adults who attend with them. Seventh Day is held Saturday noon to Sunday early afternoon at Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Lynchburg.
Kairos 2026 - July 18-23, 2027
Kairos is our week-long faith sharing event for youth who will be in 9th-12th grades in the fall. The weeklong event is held from Sunday evening through Friday noon at Roanoke College.
