Installation of River Smith

River Smith will serve as our Lutheran Campus Ministry Coordinator this school year.

River (they/them) is a lifelong Lutheran who grew up in Floyd, VA and now resides in Waynesboro where they are a member of Grace Lutheran Church. After graduating from Yale University in 2025 (where they were an active leader in Lutheran Campus Ministry), River discerned a call to ordained ministry and is entering the candidacy process to begin seminary in 2027. Their energy, experience, and heart for the gospel makes them the perfect fit to oversee campus ministry. Their 15-hour-a-week position is generously funded by a grant from the Virginia Synod.
