Narrative Lectionary Corner

This fall we’re beginning a new feature in The Chimes called the Narrative Lectionary Corner . Each week this short note will give you the “catch up” — a quick overview of the biblical events that take place between our Sunday readings — followed by an overview of this Sunday’s reading, and a look ahead to next Sunday. The goal is simple: to help us see the Bible not as scattered passages, but as one unfolding story of God’s work in the world.

As Pastor Alex shared in his recent Word Together sermon, “Scripture is not just a collection of verses but a living story that God is still writing with us.” This Narrative Lectionary Corner will help us hold onto that big picture so when we open the Bible on Sunday, we know where we are in God’s story and why it matters for us today.
